Meinir Mathias

Meinir Mathias is a celebrated Welsh painter known for her evocative and striking oil paintings that vividly depict Welsh narratives and powerful characters. Throughout her career, Meinir has made a significant impact on the art scene, exhibiting her work across Wales, the UK, and internationally. Her fierce and independent characters, reimagined through a contemporary lens, challenge viewers to reflect on their own cultural influences and the stories embedded in the landscapes around them. Meinir is delighted to showcase her work at the Festival, a location that holds special significance for her due to strong family ties to Fishguard and the Gwaun Valley. Attendees can look forward to a diverse display of her work, featuring a selection of her paintings, prints, and drawings. Trove, is hosting her Art Exhibion.

Pirate & Smugglers Walk

Pirate & Smugglers Walk. Oo ar, me hearties! Join us on our legendary Pirates and Smugglers Walk - a guided journey with tales ‘bout the Fishguard shores and its colourful characters. Set sail from The Oak, and ye’ll be off on a 1 1/2- hour adventure. ’Tis a fair easy trek, just over a mile, with steep spots and sections at the roads and waters. Perfect for scallywags of all ages! Dress like a pirate if ye please.

Holly Robinson

Join neurodivergent musician Holly Robinson for a chat about all things neurodivergence and music. We’ll be taking a look at why some music may offer some sense of satisfaction, joy, safety, home and community; barriers to participation; how we can make folk events more neuro affirming; and why music is so good for wellbeing. Holly has 35 years experience playing with ceilidh and bands across Wales and England. Alongside her performance work Holly retrained as a music therapist in 2021 and now specialises in working with adults and children with neurologic conditions, neuro divergence, anxiety, trauma and depression.

Glen Peters

Glen Peters, an immigrant to the UK, and has been hooked by British folk music. He founded and runs the music programme at Rhosygilwen, Pembs. His Folk Diary is a personal account of his experiences as an immigrant, expressed through British folk styles. He will perform songs and share stories from this collection. The CD Where do you come from?, is set for release later this year. Glen Peters, yn fewnfudwr i'r DU, wedi cael ei wirioni gan gerddoriaeth werin Prydain. Ef sefydlodd a rhedeg y rhaglen gerddoriaeth yn Rhosygilwen, Sir Benfro. Mae His Folk Diary yn gofnod personol o'i brofiadau fel mewnfudwr, wedi'i fynegi trwy arddulliau gwerin Prydeinig. Bydd yn perfformio caneuon ac yn rhannu straeon o'r casgliad hwn. Disgwylir i'r CD O Ble wyt ti'n dod?, a gynhyrchwyd gan Boo Hewerdine, gael ei rhyddhau yn ddiweddarach eleni.

Hanes Abergwaun

Hanes Abergwaun are a band of volunteers who have established a dynamic local history website in recent years. They like nothing better than researching and sharing North Pembrokeshire stories on-line. During their Folk Festival event they will make a rare appearance in person, highlighting the best of folk culture in this wonderful part of Wales. Maent with eu boded yn ymchwilio i strain Gogledd Sír Benfro, a’u rhannu ar-lein. Yn ystod y digwyddiad hwn yn yr Wyl Werin, byddant yn adrodd nifer o straeon gwerin yr areal ac yn sôn am ddiwylliant gwerin yn y han hyfryd hon o Gymru.
